Vivarii novi Ἀκαδημείας ἅπαντες ἑταῖροι μαθηταῖς τε καὶ φίλοις, εὖ πράττειν.
Πολλῇ χαρᾷ τὴν Ἑλληνικὴν συνουσίαν τοῦδε τοῦ θέρους ἔτους ὄντος 2023, ὑμῖν, ὦ φίλοι, εἰσηγούμεθ’, ἐλπίζοντες ὡς πλείστους δέξεσθαι πρὸς συγγραφῶν καὶ ποιητῶν κατὰ χρόνους ποικίλων καὶ διαφερόντων ἀναγνώσεις καὶ τὸ κράτιστον ἐπὶ βεβαιώσει καὶ αὐξήσει συνηθείας καὶ φιλίας. Ἀναγιγνώσκωμεν οὖν, ᾄδωμεν, συνδιατρίβωμεν ἑβδομάδ’ὁμοῦ Ἑλληνίζοντες ἀπολαύοντες τε τῆς ἐν τῇ Φαλκωνερίᾳ ἐπαύλει ἡσυχίας.
Χορηγίας μέντοι μάλιστα μαθηταῖς τοῖς ἀκούσασί γ’ ἡμῶν μέχρι τέλους τοῦ πρώτου τόμου τῆς Ἰταλικῆς τοῦ Ἀθήναζ’ἐκδόσεως, ἐπεὶ τάδε τὰ διδάγματα χρήσιμα καὶ ἐπιτήδεια μάλιστ’ἐστὶ τοῖς ἤδη ταύτῃ μεμαθηκόσιν ἀναγνῶναι καὶ διαλέγεσθαι· ἐὰν δέ τις τῶνδ’ὀρέγηται τῶν ἐπιτηδευμάτων καίπερ μὴ πρότερον μετεσχηκὼς τῶν ἡμετέρων διαλέξεων πρότερον, ἔξεσται δὴ αὐτῷ δαπάνην τελέσαντι 500 € καὶ ἐπιστολὴν Ἑλληνιστὶ ἄνευ λεξικοῦ γράψαντι περὶ τῆς αἰτίας δι’ἧς μετεῖναι τῇ συνουσίᾳ ἐπιθυμεῖ, ὅπως κρινοῦμεν πότερον οἷός τ’ ἔσται ἀκολουθεῖν γραφαῖς τε καὶ διηγήσεσιν.
Ὅστις οὖν ἂν ἐγγραφῆναι βούληται ὥστε μετέχειν τῆσδε τῆς συνουσίας, δεῖ ἐπιστολὴν ἡμῖν ἀποστεῖλαι ἐντὸς τῆς 10ης τοῦ Ἰουλίου, ὡς ἂν δέξηται ἀπόκρισιν ἐντὸς τῆς 15ης.
Τῷδε τῷ ἔτει 2023 ἀπὸ τῆς 24ῆς Ἰουλίου μέχρι 30ῆς τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνὸς συνεσόμεθα, ὡς ἔθος, ἐν τῇ τῆς Vivarii novi Ἀκαδημείας ἐπαύλει ἐν νέῳ Τούσκλῳ.
Τοῖς μεθέξουσιν ἡ Ἀκαδήμεια χορηγήσει τήν τ’ἐν ἐπαύλει δίαιταν καὶ τὰ ἀναγκαῖα πρὸς ἀναγνώσεις καὶ ἐν ταῖς κοινῇ γιγνομέναις ἂν ἀποδημίαις ὅ τι ἂν ἐπιτήδειον δόξῃ· ὡς δ’εἰκὸς τὰς ἰδίᾳ εἰς τὴν Ῥώμην ἢ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἄστεως πορείας οὐ δαπανήσει ἡ Ἀκαδήμεια, οὐδὲ τὴν παρ’ἡμᾶς ἄφιξιν ἢ τὴντῆς ἐπαύλεως ἀποχώρησιν.
Ἡμῖν οὐν ἀσμενωτάτοις παραγενήσεσθ’ὅπως ἐπὶ παιδείαν τε καὶ φιλανθρωπίαν ἐπιδόντες τὰς φιλίας καὶ συνηθείας κρείττους καὶ βεβαιοτέρας θῶμεν.
The Vivarium novum Academy is organizing a reading seminar on Ancient Greek from the 24th of July to the 30th of July.
Twenty-five scholarships are available for this program, so that the selected students may spend time together reading and conversing in Ancient Greek for a week in the serene atmosphere of the Villa Falconieri.
These classes are intended as an encouragement and stimulus for further study for those who have finished the first and second modules of the online Greek classes with us.
Students who have not attended our courses, should write to us a motivation letter in ancient Greek without the use of a dictionary or a grammatical book. If their language knowledge is thus approved, they can participate in our seminars at a cost of 500 euros.
Apart from the daily lectures on the second volume of Athenaze, we also intend to read sections from various epic, lyric and tragic poets, historians, philosophers, biblical texts and medieval fables.
To apply for the program, we request you:
- to fill the forms that you will find attached herewith, and email them to corsi@vivariumnovum.net.
- to send us a copy of your ID card or Passport.
The deadline for application is the 10th of July. The application results will be declared to each student by the 15th of July via email.
The Academy will provide for the classes, boarding, curricular excursions and overall accommodation of the selected students from the 24th of July to the 30th of July, 2023. Travel expenses (to and from Rome) are not part of the scholarship.
